If I don't leave that microwave publicly accessible then people will SCREAM over OOC if hunger mod is enabled. And despite knowing I keep records of all injuries, nobody came asking for evidence for an investigation. The mafia and thieves get angry that u don't immediately heal gun them and shoot me. There have been numerous times where I have become a doctor, set up a clinic somewhere and when people come in to the clinic with injuries I run them through a played out diagnosis and keep medical records on file. What role play misses and has mostly been missing is. I am going to go cry in a corner for not having the hardware to not be stuck playing shitty garrysmod gamemodes because I can't build anything in sandbox for shit anymore. So, here's my uncoordinated shitshow of explaining an idea for a better RP gamemode for Garrysmod. Truly gone are the days of when a hobo could live along a sidewalk in a tastefully terrible shack of a home, singing to passers-by in exchange for a dollar, or a crafty citizen could open up a yoga studio on the cheap with promises of reaching your inner most ragdoll. stupid money printer pervertedness that has ruined it beyond repair as far as I can see. I post this as a sort of gag reflex to my most recent return to DarkRP, in all of it's car and. The cost vs reward on drug and money production illegally should be far more risky to it's purchaser in this kind of game, keeping it rare and subtle. Gangs, weapon dealers, Bounty hunters, and even drug cartels could still exist, and there could even be better ways for things like money printers and the like to be implemented, but I don't think RP should rely on these (bullshit) methods alone to make any reasonable amount of money. I don't know who decided RP stood for Deathmatch, but they should be ashamed of themselves for it. NPCs can exist as a variable baseline for products other players need, but players can also take on the same role as the NPC to act as player based competition, giving players the ability to buy resources in bulk or sell individually so that they can sell at better rates than the NPC if they buy and store resources in larger quantities to sell.Īgain: less drugs and guns. Homes will have a property tax that reflects on it's size (probably per door) so that some random citizen can't just go buying a warehouse without needing to keep it paid for. Everyone has a subtle hunger, thirst, and sleep requirement to maintain which can influence a schedule for things like stores and other tasks. In essence, DarkRP at it's core, but with more buildable objects based around LEGAL money making strategies like greenhouse style farming to either take the crops and sell yourself to fellow players, or to sell to a storekeeper. In Garrysmod's case, consider my vision to be the prodigy child of DarkRP's class structure, Stranded's farming and need of livable resources to a degree, Flood's cost per prop concept, with less money printers and mafia BS. So, to the point I should have been making by now, I have been waiting for years on years to get an RP gamemode worth it's salt, and I feel that there's a good comparison in another game to what I've imagined here, and that is the Arma: Humanity mod. moneyprinters and pot plants to the world? (what?) Every single one of them plays like a silly cross of a base hoarding drug sim, with people gunning people down left and right without reason or even consequence, and in cases where civilzation is suppose to be emulated (DarkRP) it feels like some half baked cops and robbers subplot where everyone who's not a cop is secretly building a revolution to bring. They are all great fun in the same way, but they all suck in the same way too. (RIP postapocalypseRP, you will be missed) I've played them all, up to some extinct concepts that I had a small fondness to. A practical Buffet of concepts all built with the same ingredients and the same flavorless results. Sadly, though, in all the Gamemodes I've played, I feel that there's a growing theme that fails to live up to it's potential, and that's the RP scene.ĭark RP, 'starwarsrp', MethRP, everything with RP in front of it.

I've played just about every Gamemode made from years back up to now, well before every update to this point that's progressively changed the game (for better and for worse in some cases) and it's resulting community.

(I'd have said a lot, but I'm getting the feeling there's a lot of people here just posting for troubleshooting.) I've played a lot of Garrysmod, as I'm sure some of the people in this Reddit sub have.
